Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of all human tissues. It is the most concentrated in the skin, joints and eye balls. With age, its volume reduces, causing skin dryness and sagging, and wrinkle formation. Hyaluronic acid used in top-brand aesthetic medicine preparations is obtained in a biotechnological process, does not contain substances of animal origin and has the right level of purity. It is entirely safe for the human body. It does not require allergy tests. Hyaluronic acid molecules bind water. The size of those molecules may be different between preparations. Also, hyaluronic acid may be cross-linked or non-cross-linked. Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid absorbs faster and is a better moisturizer, and it is used in mesotherapy. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid takes longer to metabolize and is thicker: it is a partly gel and partly liquid implant, and is most typically used as a filler. The thickest types are used in volumetric treatment. The price of the preparation, and consequently of the treatment is higher with cross-linked hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid products are used for:
- Wrinkle filling (“the lion’s wrinkle” - thhe vertical line between the eyebrows, nasolabial folds, “puppet lines” - wrinkles from mouth corners to the chin, “lough lines”, “smoker’s wrinkles” - wrinkles around the mouth)
- Mouth correction (augmenting, modelling, firming and moisturising, raising the mouth corners)
- Face modelling (refilling the tissue, e.g. sunken cheeks, improving the face oval)
- Refilling tissue and removing dark circles around eyes (filling up the tear valley)
- Moisturising, skin regeneration
How does the wrinkle filling treatment work:
We use reliable wrinkle filling preparations, i.e. Restylane, StylAge, Juvederm, Teosyal. The treatment involves injecting hyaluronic acid into a given area. The physician selects the preparation that has the right plasticity, considering the location and depth of the wrinkle, and the expected effect. The physician also decides on the best method of application (needle or cannula, injecting in spots or lines). Some preparations contain anaesthetics. If a patient is very sensitive, anaesthetic ointment may also be applied. The filling effect is visible immediately after injection, and the product also stimulates hydration and collagen reconstruction in the area of application. The procedure takes about half an hour. The spots of injection may be visible after the treatment, and slight reddening or small bruises may develop. The area may be sensitive for 2-3 days. The effect lasts for 6 to 12 months, depending on the preparation used. With each subsequent application of hyaluronic acid, the effect is more durable.
