The Derm-Al Centre offers laser removal of lesions such as, for example: fibromas, seborrheic warts, epidermal nevi, genital warts, molluscum contagiosum, milia, pearly penile papules, xanthelasma and keloids.
The CO2 lasers emits an infrared beam of the wave length of 10600nm, which is absorbed by water. Water in the tissue absorbs energy causing vaporisation of cells, i.e. ablation, this way destroying a lesion. The treatment does not cause bleeding, because a coagulation zone is formed in the area where the laser is applied. This method is very precise and is associated with a lower risk of scar formation compared to other lasers on the market. The laser that we use at the Derm-Al Centre has minimum spot size of 120 µm and very brief pulses, which reduces the pain, accelerates healing and improves the comfort of treatment compared to other lasers on the market.
The laser may not be used in the case of suspected melanoma maligna, thus skin lesions must first be professionally examined by a specialist physician. If melanoma is suspected, a lesion may not be destroyed by a laser beam and the only possible method to remove it is by traditional surgery. After that, histopathology may be performed to confirm or eliminate the diagnosis. Also, surgery makes it possible to remove a few millimeters of skin around the lesion, which is necessary in the case of pigmented lesions.
