Lower eyelid correction
- Description of the treatment
-
At the Derm-Al Centre, we offer lower eyelid correction in local anaesthesia. The purpose of the treatment is to remove the dark circles under the eyes for a relaxed and rejuvenated effect.
Lower eyelid correction involves surgical removal of fat pads and excess skin, together with a section of the orbicularis oculi. The skin is cut below the lower eyelash line and then beyond the eye angle, along the natural “crow’s feet” wrinkles. The wound is closed with dissolvable stitches in the fascia and muscle layer and non-dissolvable stitches in the skin layer; the latter are removed 2 days after the treatment. After the treatment, anti-swell haemostatic wound dressing is applied.
The treatment is performed in local anaesthesia, with Lignocaina 1,5% injection, and it takes appr. 1.5 to 2 hours. After the treatment, the patient may return home.
For a few days after the treatment, the eyelids will be swollen and bruises may develop. The eyes may be hypersensitive to light, watery, itchy or stingy. In order to reduce these symptoms, the physician’s instructions should be followed. Full recovery takes about a month. The effect is long-lasting. At first, the scars are pinkish, but in time they turn pale and become invisible.
Before eyelid correction, it is necessary to consult the physician who will be performing the treatment.
