At the Derm-Al Centre, biopsy for histopathological analysis, other than skin and epidermis biopsy, is performed by surgeons.
Such biopsy requires one or more stitches. Biopsy may be extracted from mucous membrane, vessels, dermal muscles, smooth muscles or deep muscles.
Histopathology
Performed to evaluate spatial pathological changes in tissue. The sample extracted during biopsy is placed in stabiliser and sent to the laboratory for histopathological analysis.
At the laboratory, the sample is processed: dehydrated, hardened and embedded in paraffin. Then, it is cut into stripes several milimetres long, placed on microscope slides and coloured. After that, it is ready for examination by pathologist, who identifies and describes pathological changes (histopathological analysis), if any.
The result of histopathological analysis is available at Derm-Al within around 14 days and discussed during an appointemnt with the surgeon.
