At Derm-Al Beauty, the method used to treat hyperhidrosis, providing rapid and long-lasting effectiveness, involves botulinum toxin treatments.
These treatments are used to manage hyperhidrosis, most commonly occurring in the hands, feet, and sometimes the face (forehead, nose).
To inhibit sweat secretion, the same type A botulinum toxin used for treating mimic wrinkles is applied. Botulinum toxin type A, commonly known as Botox, is a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. When injected into the skin, it blocks nerve cells, thereby halting the action of those nerves that supply the eccrine glands. Therefore, at the injection site, the nerve cells blocked by Botox cease signaling the glands to produce sweat.
Procedure Technique:
The procedure involves injecting small amounts of the toxin preparation at intervals of approximately 1 cm in the targeted area. The areas to be treated are typically numbed with Emla cream, which contains 25 mg of Lidocaine per 1g. Numbing takes effect approximately 45 minutes before the procedure begins. The effect becomes noticeable within several days to a couple of weeks and lasts several months, potentially up to a year (for armpits), before requiring repetition.
